The most powerful feature of SpeedKeys is that it allows
you to create Hot Keys that will pop open the SpeedKeys window and automatically perform a
search on a zip code and then minimize itself and type the city, state, zip code, area
code, and an optional PostNET bar code (or any combination of these) directly into the
program you were using when you pressed the Hot Key. You can even specify exactly how you
want the data entered including cursor control keystrokes (e.g. Enter, Tab, Up, Down,
etc.). This way you can have all city, state, zip code, area code and bar code data
entered into any application exactly the same way you would enter the data if you were
typing it in yourself. You can also use SpeedKeys as a simple keyboard enhancer to type
sentences, phrases or practically any sequence of keystrokes simply by pressing a Hot Key.
SpeedKeys is pre-configured with three Hot Keys already
defined for you. The first uses the keystrokes ALT + Z to pop open the SpeedKeys window,
perform a zip code search and then automatically minimize itself and type the city name, a
Tab keystroke, the two letter state abbreviation, another Tab Key and finally the zip code
followed by an Enter key. The second Hot Key uses ALT + P to simply type the string
"PO BOX" (Without opening the the SpeedKeys window). The third Hot Key is almost
identical to the first except that it uses ALT + X and along with the city, state, and zip
code SpeedKeys will paste in a PostNET bar code if the "Generate PostNET Bar
Codes" option is selected in the Options menu. In SpeedKeys you can define a total of
20 Hot Keys to enter whatever sequence of keystrokes you like.
