| To type address information into GoldMine using Speedkeys, you simply
define a Hot Key that types the information into the appropriate fields. The Hot Key
outlined below will automatically type the city, state, zip code and U.S.A. into the
appropriate fields. The Hot Key then "tabs" you to the Phone2 field (since
typically the user will have already entered the Phone1 field). This Hot Key can be
altered to type in any format you choose. The Hot Key is defined as "Alt-G". You
use the Hot Key by typing Alt-G when you get to the City field in GoldMine. Please note
that to use this Hot Key in GoldMine, you must select Preferences from the Edit menu in
GoldMine and check "No Validation" under Zip Code Validation.
To define a Hot Key, open the Speedkeys window and hit Hot
Keys... from the Options Menu and you will see the Hot Key Editor window.

The window above defines Hot Key 20 with the keystroke
"Alt-G" to type your formatted address information into GoldMine. The Keystroke
Sequence is as follows:
^e+{END}{city}{tab}+{END}{state}{tab}+{END}{zip}{tab}+{END}U.S.A.{tab
3}
The Keystroke Sequence above types "Ctrl e" to
return the focus back to the City field in GoldMine, then types the city name, tabs once
to the State field, etc., etc., and sends you to the Phone2 field. The Hot Key is set-up
to type address information into New Records or to edit existing records. When editing
existing records, the keystrokes +{END} will highlight any existing address information in
your field, causing the edited information to replace it. You will notice that the Hot Key
includes +{END} before each address field for that reason.
So every time you type "Alt-G", the Speedkeys
Window opens, you type the zip code for your new record, hit Enter, and Speedkeys types
your address information and tabs you to the Phone2 field to finish your entry.
You can define up to 20 different Hot Keys in Speedkeys to
type address information into all your favorite Windows programs....GoldMine, address
databases, accounting software, word processor, etc....any Windows application. |
